The Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club is a strong supporter of many community and charitable organizations benefitting the citizens of Volusia County. We provide both financial contributions and volunteers from among our management team and employees in support. Among the organizations and events, we have supported:

Delaware North has established a strong reputation for giving back to the communities in which it operates – both through corporate giving and economic development. In recent years, the Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club has been recognized for its significant positive economic impact on Volusia County and the local community, receiving the 2012 Enterprise Award from the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce. The award recognized the kennel club’s positive impact in employing 430 local residents and purchasing goods and services from local and regional companies for its operations.

Charity Poker

Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club hosts and sponsors a number of major charity poker tournaments that raise significant funds for important local organizations.

Over recent years, the signature Charity Classic events has donated to local charities, including The Jerry Doliner Food bank, local Veterans organizations, youth scholarships, the Police Unity Tour, Disability Solutions service animal training programs, Greyhound Pets of America, American Heart Association, The One Drop Fund and, most recently, the Halifax Health Neo-Natal Project.

Protecting the Environment

Delaware North also brought an environmentally friendly approach to the construction of the new Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club and continues to do so with its operations today.

When it opened in 2008, the facility achieved Gold LEED (Leadership in Engineering and Environmental Design) certification in the sustainable building program administered by the U.S. Green Building Council. The project was the first LEED project in the city of Daytona Beach, Fla., and the first gold-LEED project in Volusia County. LEED certification is determined based on assessing buildings in five key areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

About 95 percent of all construction waste from the project was recycled. The new facility is 40 percent more water efficient and 25 percent more energy efficient than the old complex. It saves about 350,000 gallons of water per year with ultra-low-flow faucets and urinals, plus landscaping that consists of plants that are adaptable to the dry climate, including Bahia grass, which is drought-resistant turf.

Since 2008, Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club has implemented Delaware North’s proprietary GreenPath® environmental management system. Through GreenPath, the kennel club recycles paper, plastic, cardboard and other materials, diverting tons of waste from landfills; reduces energy and water usage; encourages associates and guests to carpool.

The Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club also believes in and preserving and protecting the natural resources in the areas where we operate. Each year around Earth Day, associates and managers volunteer their time and energy toward an environmental project such as cleaning up a local park.
