There are a number of ways to wager on greyhound races. Here is a brief rundown on the rules of greyhound betting:
You select the greyhound that finishes First.
Minimum Win wagers are $2.
You select the greyhound that finishes First or Second. Minimum Place wagers are $2.
You select the greyhound that finishes First, Second or Third. Minimum Show wagers are $2.
You select two greyhounds that finish First and Second in either order. For example, if you select greyhound numbers 8 and 4, they must come in either 8 First and 4 Second or 4 First and 8 Second. Minimum Quinela wagers are $2.
You select two greyhounds that finish First and Second in the exact order. For example, if you select greyhounds number 8 and 4, the 8 must finish First and the 4 must finish Second. Minimum Exacta Wagers are 50¢.
You select three greyhounds that finish First, Second and Third in the exact order. For example, if you select greyhound numbers 1,3, and 5, the 1 must finish First, 3 must finish Second and the 5 must finish Third. Minimum Trifecta wagers are $2.
Select four greyhounds that finish First through Fourth in the exact order. For example, greyhound numbers 1, 3, 5 and 7, the 1 must finish First, 3 must finish Second, 5 must finish Third and 7 must finish Fourth. Be sure to check the tote board before discarding your ticket because you may have a winner due to a consolation payoff. Minimum Superfecta wagers are 10¢.
You can “Box” a Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta or Superfecta wager. Boxing means it no longer matters the order of finish for that given bet. For example, if you box a Quinella 2-4-6 that means that two of the three numbers must finish First and Second in any order. If you box a Trifecta 2-4-6 then all three greyhounds must finish First, Second and Third in any order. A $2 Quinella box 2-4-6 is $6. A $1 Trifecta box 2-4-6 is $6. A 50¢ Exacta box 2-4 is $1. A 10¢ Superfecta box 2-4-6-8 is $2.40.
The Twin-Tri is a carryover jackpot exchange wager where you must select two Trifectas in two different races. The first winning Trifecta is exchanged for a chance at the jackpot. Play the Twin-Tri in races 3 & 5. Minimum Twin-Tri wagers are $2. The Twin-Tri jackpot is forced-out every Saturday Evening. Consult your official racing program for more information.
The Lucky North Pick 6 is a carryover jackpot wager where you must pick the winning greyhound in six consecutive races. In order to win the Pick 6 jackpot, you must have the unique winning wager. Bet on the Lucky North Pick 6 in races 6-11. Be sure to keep your wager until all six races have run – if there is no unique winner, a consolation will be divided among the remaining ticket holders with the most correct win selections. Minimum Pick 6 wagers are 50¢.
Featured Wager: Big Q Played only on the last two races of each performance, you must pick a “Quiniella” in the first of the two races this wager is played. If you are correct, you have what is known as an “exchange” ticket. Take that ticket to any teller and pick a “Quiniella” again for the last race. If you pick both quiniellas in a row, you will win the “BIG Q” payoff. (If nobody selects both quiniellas in a row, then those who picked at least the first quiniella will share in the winnings.) *Minimum bet - $2 per dog combination
